Medaka Box

Now I'm not gonna say that the series is crap, and you shouldn't waste your time on it. I do have some thoughts about it though. Oh, and this isn't a Weekly Manga feature.

The one shot was good. The serialized series on the other hand...It's not bad, it's just that there's a lack of plot, and there's really nothing interesting about the series. Medaka herself isn't even an appealing character. She's just too out there. She's not missing any screws like Mr. Head Enforcer. In fact, she's probably got a few too many. Get your mind out of the gutter. The recent chapters elevated the series from a "meh" to a "whut?".  It may be because I've recently marathoned Bakuman, but I'm getting the feeling these recent chapters are an attempt to raise the rather low rankings. I can't see this series lasting for too much longer in WSJ.

Anyways, aside from all the negative aspects, I suppose a little positive feedback would be nice. While Medaka herself isn't too interesting, the student council treasurer makes up for Medaka's lackings, and possibly a tad bit more. Kikaijima Mogana a more appealing character in my opinion. She's a normal person. That's probably the biggest factor in my judgment. Plus, I think she looks better than Medaka does. Now that's not to say that Medaka looks bad. Her rather outrageous outlook on life bugs me bit.

Anywho, that's my two cents on the series. Might be doing more of these in the future.

While supercell's been busy with non-vocaloid stuff (i.e. music for cencoroll, 君の知らない物語, b★rs anime, etc.), ryo was able to crank out a new version of B★RS! The song comes with the pilot dvd of B★RS.

It's not too different from the usual and older version, although it has been upgraded to have a string accompaniment. Miku's voice has also gone through a bit of work. Most noticeable in the beginning with her vibrato ^^" Anywho, this isn't a Weekly Vocaloid Saturday, just a little update xD

Yutrue sucks more than you do

Can you help him find why?

Yeah, so anyways the video is about him, and how he's trying to improve on his YT vids, at the same time, it's pretty funny to watch, when it's good. I might be appearing in a video with him in the future, so keep on the lookout for a good looking, preppy dressed, glasses toting 18 year old Asian male in one of his vids!

Spoilers ahead. Read at your own discretion.

And so Bakemonogatari finishes it's run on the TV, and begins it's three episode web stream run. This week's episode wasn't part of the previous arc (cat), but what brilliant nonetheless. What I really love about the show is the character interaction between Tsundere-chan Senjougahara and Araragi. In fact, that's exactly what this week's episode was! Senjougahara really stole the show with her dialogue, and putting Araragi on the spot.

Man, Senjougahara's really cute with hair tied up like that. Araragi's one lucky dude.

Must've been hell for him there. Being teased by her, and having her dad driving the car. But that's what makes Senjogahara's character so loveable.

This scene was my favourite scene from the episode. It was gorgeous. The stars, the dialogue, everything just was beautiful. Reminded me of Sora no Manimani, just better. Senjougahara's character really shines here in this scene too. Loved that scene. I've watched it three times, though I get the feeling that other people have watched it more than I have.

A bit upset that their kiss wasn't shown, but I can rest easily knowing that there probably was one. Araragi looks good there. He's usually got some sort of face on, especially when Senjougahara's around.

Anywho, this isn't the end of the series, but by far, it was one of the bestest episodes of the season (yes, the season, not just the series). I'll cover a few others series that I see have a nice ending. Look forwards to those!

Manga of ze Week - Angel Heart

Title: エンジェル・ハート, Angel Heart
Author: Hojo Tsukasa
Genre: Seinen, Action, Comedy, Drama, Mystery, Romance
Serialized in: Shinchosha Comic Bunch
Total Volume Count: 30 (ongoing)

Kenn's Comment: A loose sequel to the series City Hunter. I haven't read City Hunter myself, but it's not really important for this series. It's really good. It was a bit hard for me to get the fact that Shanin is still pretty young. She just looks so mature! Anywho, it takes a few chapters for the story to settle down, but once it does (and even before it did) the series is really something. Definitely recommend this. It had an anime too. I guess...around 2005. Had 50 episodes. Was it popular? At 50 episodes, it had to be. 30 volumes of manga, and still going. Successful series much? I'm pretty sure Shanin is dressed different every arc...

Summary from MangaUpdates:
A young Taiwanese assassin codenamed "Glass Heart" committed suicide by jumping off a building, and her heart was pierced by a metal fence. Miraculously, her life was saved by heart transplantation. During her recovery she began to experience strange dreams, which led her to Japan looking for the donor of her heart, who happens to be Kaori Makimura, former partner of City Hunter.

Title: アスラクライン2, Asura Cryin' 2
Genre: Action, Fantasy
Airs: 10/01 09:30
Animation Studio: Seven Arcs

Kenn's Comment: A sequel to the spring's Asura Cryin'. I'll say that the series isn't terrible, but it's not awesome either. The characters are enjoyable, but the way some of the plot is presented is a bit iffy to me. Hoping that this season of it will be good too. The trailer I'm using came from the last few seconds of the final episode of Asura Cryin' 1

Summary from ANN (from season 1):
Tomo was a school kid with just one problem: he had a ghost friend for a while. One day, his life is turned upside down as his world changes into a new one, one which he couldn't imagine before.

Title: フェアリーテイル, FAIRY TAIL
Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy
Airs: 10/12 19:30
Animation Studio: A-1 Pictures, Satelight

Kenn's Comment: I can't say I'm a fan of Mashima-sensei's art, but Fairy Tail is a pretty good series. It's not very fan service based, but it's action is quite nice. Kakihara Tetsuya voices Natsu, while Hirano Aya voices Lucy. Looking forwards to this.

Summary from ANN:
Lucy is a 17-year-old girl, who wants to join a mage guild to become a full-fledged mage. One day, Natsu, a young man who is looking for the salamander and his talking cat Happy meets Lucy and help her get out of a sticky situation. That’s when she find out that Natsu not only is a mage, but is also a member of one of the world’s most infamous mage guilds…Fairy Tail.

More to come.

Title: テガミバチ, Tegami Bachi, Letter Bee
Genre: Action, Fantasy
Airs: 10/03 22:55
Production Studio: Studio Pierrot

Kenn's Comment: First serialized in Monthly SJ, and then went to Weekly SJ, and then to Jump Square. This series isn't a stranger to animation. It's got an OVA out already. However, the OVA and anime series won't have any relation. The anime will be starting from the start of the story (so did the OVA, so it's like a massive trailer?). Anywho, the art is real nice, and the series itself has a steampunk kinda feel to it. Looking forwards to it.

Summary from ANN:
Gauche is a governmental employee, given the task to deliver any letter to it's destination. Meeting a young boy who is the letter to be delivered, Gauche makes friends with Lag and inspires him to take up the job. Five years later, Lag Seeing finally becomes his dream, that of a Letter Bee. However, the one who inspired him has gone missing and only there does the mystery start.

Weekly Vocaloid Feature - Sweet Cendrillon Drug

Song by uzP

It's a cool song. I don't think it has any relation to another song, Cendrillon. I'll have some more previews up later.

Alrighty, so twas another night down in Richmond. I stuck this series on hiatus, since nothing interesting was happening. Tonight, however, I'd say stuff happened. I'll list'em instead of typing up some stuff.

First time lighting the stove. It's a propane stove, so you gotta get a barbecue lighter to start it. We left the gas running to a bit too long, so went I went to light it, it caused a micro-explosion, (cue sound effect "foom") and singed my hand. Scary, but no injuries.

Apparently, my newest Super Bored shirt has the image of my cousin's friend's cousin's god-sister on it. Yes, it's pretty far off, but that's an interesting fact.

While cleaning up, my cousin and his friends (and included me) played a game where you couldn't use words with a particular letter. If you say a word with the letter, you'd get punched. First was "T". Was quite difficult, as you can see. A very common letter. After it went to W. Not as difficult, but still a bit tricky, as you don't expect it to come up. I'd say that the highlights were...

"Understand doesn't have a T"
"Wait" punch "Time out!" punch "Stop!" punch
"...There are warm fluids..." (couldn't say water)

Being crafty, and quiet, I simply just didn't talk. I used French too, but apparently I can't. Ou est la toilette?, rather than "where is the toilet?"

Anywho, that's about it for the day. More previews to come tomorrow. Nights y'all.

Autumn Anime Previews 13 - 11eyes

Image from main site

I'm in over drive!!!

Title: イレブンアイズ, 11eyes, 11eyes -Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shoujo-
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Romance
Airs: 10/06 25:00
Animation Studio: Dogakobo

Kenn's Comment: From the promo, it looks pretty good. Can't say I know too much about this series. What I do know is that the song in the promo is awesome, and that a general age version was released on the 360.

Summary from ANN:

Satsuki Kakeru lost his sister by suicide and has been living a dull life ever since then. One day, he is transported into a bizarre world "Red Night" along with his friend Minase Yuka. In order to survive and escape from Red Night, he fights against Dark Spirits (Ralva) and Black Nights.
Trailer:

Looks like I can win over H Weej by having more Mandarin music. Watch me put up some Korean or Japanese song next week.

Title: Kiss Goodbye
Artist: 王力宏 (Lee Hom Wang)
Genre: Ballad, Pop
Single: N/A
Vintage: 30/12/05

Kenn's Comment:
I'll say it now. I prefer Lee Hom's ballads over his usual music. In fact, I prefer ballads in general. The video is quite nice too ^^; How d'ya like me now Weej?

Image from main site

Anywho, while I was in the process of typing this up, a trailer popped up! It's only on the website for now though.

Title: けんぷファー, Kämpfer (german for warrior)
Genre: Action, Comedy, Romance
Airs: 10/01 25:29
Animation Studio: NOMAD

Kenn's Comment: From what I've read in the few chapters of the manga that have been scanlated, I can say that the series is pretty interesting. It was quite successful with it's novels, enough so to get a manga version created, and now we have an anime adaptation. The animation looks pretty good too.

Summary from ANN:

Senou Natsuru is your normal, everyday high school student. However he´s been chosen to be a Kampfer, who´s objective consists on fighting other Kampfer with either guns, swords or magic, however, there´s catch; first you can´t chose if you´re a Kampfer or not, and second, you must have the body of a girl to use your powers.

I said I was going into overdrive, didn't I?

Title: ささめきこと, Sasameki Koto, Whispered Words
Genre: Shoujo Ai, Romance, Comedy, Drama
Airs: 10/07 26:20
Animation Studio: AIC

Kenn's Comment: Well, I've just blazed through the first 3 volumes of the manga, and I have to say, I've got some hopes for it. The first volume was a bit slow in terms of the relationships, drawing it out like many, many shounen romances do. After that though, the relationships between the characters pick up a good bit. Compared to the other yuri title out last season, Aoi Hana, I feel that I'd probably like this one a tad bit more. Speaking of Aoi Hana, I've gotta get around to finishing that series ^^;

Summary from MangaTraders:

What if your beautiful friend loves only cute girls?
And what if you're in love with her?

This is the story of Murasame Sumika and Kazama Ushio, two BFFs with a complicated relationship.

Sumika is madly in love with Ushio, and has been for some time; but Ushio only shows any interest in cutesy girls. Sumika, a card-carrying badass TDB who help run her family's dojo, does not fit this bill even a little. Cue angst, as she is forced to watch from the sidelines as Ushio falls for girl after girl, none of them her. However, it seems that things may take a turn for the better...

Autumn Anime Previews 10 - 生徒会の一存

Image from some Imageboard (detexted)
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any trailers left, and if there are, they're not available to us western folk. I really hoped to do every preview with a trailer, but I guess I can't. I'll be starting the trailer-less ones now. There are quite a few, and with only 6 days left before the first episodes of series start to air, I'll be going into overdrive!!
edit: trailer for this popped up on the site

Title: 生徒会の一存, Seitokai no Ichizon, The Records of the Hekiyō Academy Student Council’s Activities
Genre: Shounen, Comedy, Romance
Airs: 10/02 25:58
Animation Studio: Studio DEEN

Kenn's Comment: Well, from the first chapter of the manga, there was something to it. From reviews I've read about it, the novel isn't very great...although there are some that say otherwise. ;D Just have to wait for the anime.

Summary from ANN:
The series, which is also called Hekiyō Gakuen Seito-kaigi Jiroku (The Records of the Hekiyō Academy Student Council’s Activities), revolves around a private high school whose student council is chosen entirely by popularity vote. Because of this, Ken Sugisaki is the only male representative, in the otherwise all bishōjo student council, that may enter the “sacred sanctuary” of the council’s meeting room. At the behest of Council President Kurimu Sakurano (pictured at right), Sugisaki records the minutes of the council meetings, which devolve into daily conversations about the students’ lives and interests.
(I crossed one thing out for obvious reasons)

It's on YouTube too!

Yeah. Sorry about the photo. Have to wait until my brother comes back from his trip so I can get my camera back. Was using my old camera. Not the greatest, as you can see.

Anyways, went running around Richmond and Vancouver with Ivy today. While picking up Miku at Richmond center (Soul of Anime is the only place to get figma D:), I felt a "no comment" aura coming from her. I honestly expected that. At least it wasn't one of those otaku-shunning aura's. Ran around Richmond Center for a bit before embarking on the next trip, destination: Aberdeen Center.

While at Aberdeen, we went to the awesome-est place there, Daiso. I went and found the most dangerous items sold there, ice picks (I would've loved one on RO), sickles (for gardening), and knives. Not wanting to become a killer, I didn't pick any of them up ^^; However, Ivy did pick up a little bear plushie keychain thing. She complained about her back hurting. I swear it has nothing to do with me. Although I suppose it could be thought of in another way, which I'll leave up to those who have their minds in the gutter...like me After a quick look around the mall,  we set off on the next journey, to Parker Place, not too far from Aberdeen.

Had a shaved ice thing at Parker Place. Trying figure out what stuff was called in English. Failed miserably. The furthest we got was coconut jelly and longan. The shaved ice made us colder than we already were. Ran around Parker Place for a bit to warm up before heading to the Olympic Village, to try and figure out where it actually was.

It was pretty much nowhere. Couldn't find the Olympic Village from the station. Ended up walking across the bridge to Downtown Vancouver. Ivy was amused by my partially comical fear of insects. A bee was flying around me, and I did a half assed run. I think my hearing's going. She could hear some high pitched noise that I couldn't. Took the Yaletown station train back home.

Getting off the train and getting down the stairs takes a good bit longer than you think. The moment I got to the bottom of the stairs, the bus left. Waited a good 15-20 minutes for the next bus. And that bus was packed like a tin of sardines. There's two stops by my house, and if you miss those two stops, you're pretty much screwed. The next stops from there are really, really far. Wouldn't want to walk back from there.

Anywho, that's pretty much my day so far. There'll be another Photo shoot for Miku, and Kagamiku will make appearances here and there in said gallery.

KIC: ニコニコ Singers

In absolutely no particular order, we begin..
Note that there isn't too much information about these people, other than what they sound like. They're also known as うたってみた, utatte mita (tried to sing). This is just a short list of a few, and there are many, many more singers out on NND. DO NOT THINK THAT THIS IS EVEN A GOOD CHUNK OF THE SINGERS OUT THERE. Some of them put professional singers to shame ^^;

anima/あにま (初めての恋が終わる時 ver.あにま)

anima's voice is similar to Ren's, but he's done covers of songs by most of the Vocaloid characters.

clear (初めての恋が終わる時 ver.Clear)

Clear's voice is similar to the ranges of Kaito and Ren, thus he is often portrayed as Kaito (sometimes Ren). He is one of the more well known and popular singers.

Halyosy

The lead vocalist of the professional band, Absorb. He often does covers of Vocaloid songs on NND. He's one of the few male vocalists able to hit extremely high notes. As a professional singer, he puts a lot of emotion into his singing. This is a perfect example. Wells up the tears nearer to the end.

nayuta (letter song ver. nayuta)

Her voice is in the range of Miku and Rin. While it is high pitched, it has a sweet, relaxing tone to it. This song is a perfect example.

Chouchou/ちょうちょ (Last Night, Good Night ver ちょうちょ)

Her voice range is similar to Meiko and Luka's. She is one of the more well known and popular female singers. She has a good voice, and her singing ability is possibly one of the best among the singers.

Usa (Last Night, Good Night ver. Usa)

Her voice range is similar to Miku's and Luka's. Her English is one of the better ones among the singers. Like ちょうちょ, she has a good voice and is an excellent singer.

Jack/じゃっく (千年の独奏歌)

His voice range in similar to Kaito's, and is usually portrayed as Kaito. He has as radio show (you'll have to find it yourself because I can't), where he will sometimes do covers of songs. He has several duets with Chouchou

Piko/ピコ (Hope and Despair)

A popular male singer on NND. He's usually portrayed by a doll. He has a strong voice, and is an excellent singer. He also has done an excellent cover of Don't Say Lazy!. I'd say his popularity rivals clear's (though I prefer Piko over clear ;D)

Dasuko/蛇足 (いろは唄ver.蛇足)

His voice range is similar to Kaito and Gakupo's. His is almost always portrayed as Gakupo, due to the similarity in voice. I personally think that he sounds a lot like Gackt (and Gakupo in that case). He's fairly popular, though he may be most famous for Imitation Black, a collaboration with Valshe and clear.

Valshe/バルシェ (Soundless Voice)

Her voice is similar to Luka, though she can also do a very good Ren. While she does covers of other songs, her Ren covers are usually the more popular.

Nodoame/のど飴

I honestly haven't heard much about him around. This was the first song I've heard from him. From what I've heard though, he's got a powerful voice, and is best suited for high energy rock songs. He seems fairly popular.

Kenn Cantabile

After blundering about, not knowing what to do with this insignificant life of mine, I've finally got it set in my head that I'll become a music student at a university. Btw, who got the reference?

My music teacher didn't take the idea of me rolling around on the floor and internet for a few months, not doing anything worthwhile with my short time here on the face of the Earth. And so, she contacted a friend of hers, a professor at a university, who then sent a recommendation letter on my behalf to the head of the music section at said university. And so, I began talks with the two individuals, the professor and the head honcho.

I asked them for their advice on what I should do (okay, so I asked one. Couldn't get a hold of the other), and I got most of my answers.

Hopefully my extensive background in music will help me get through the few years I spend.

Oh, and did I mention that I have to pass an audition to get in? The prof said it shan't be too difficult given my current standing in musical level. Just gotta make the right preparations, and get to know the right people, and if the stars are aligned with the planets, and the gods of luck and chance are on my side, I'll have a fighting chance of getting in.

My mom wasn't too keen on me becoming a music major though. It's like that with most Asian parents. She wasn't against it, but she wasn't too cool with it either.

The university I mention is Capilano University, in North Vancouver. If you want to stalk me, now you know where I may be going to school.

On another note, I'm working on my next KIC post, so stay tuned for that. I think I'm gonna do the Nico Nico singers for that one.

Title: 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン RE-TAKE, Neon Genesis Evangelion Re-TAKE
Author: Studio Kimigabuchi
Genre: Doujinshi, Action, Drama, Mecha, Supernatural, Romance
Serialized in: N/A
Total Volume Count: 6 (complete) + Re-TAKE After (sequel)

Kenn's Comment: Yes yes, I know. This is a doujinshi. HOWEVER, it is a doujin that transcends the boundaries of awesome, encroaches upon the levels of legendary, and all together is one helluva read. It is the unofficial end of the famous Neon Genesis Evangelion series. Hailed as the greatest Evangelion doujin of all time, Studio Kimigabuchi kept the overall style of art as similar as possible to the original work by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, giving it an almost official feel to it. It does take an Asuka route, whom I prefer over the relatively emotionless but still popular Rei, so if you hate Asuka to the core, I wouldn't exactly recommend this to you. It does have sex scenes, however they are pretty insignificant to the story, and also are very scarce throughout the five volumes. There's also an All Ages release of it, due to it's sheer popularity, so if you really want to avoid the sex, you could look into that one. It also has its own soundtrack, which was released some time ago. ;D

Summary from Manga Updates:
A Neon Genesis Evangelion doujinshi based in a world created by Shinji that relives the events of Evangelion. Only this time around, he is aware of what actually happened, but believes those events to be a dark dream of the future. He resolves to make sure that the dream is not realized. Meanwhile, the Asuka from Shinji's "dream" watches from afar, despising Shinji and the Asuka of his world that he has resolved to protect.

A (worthy) sequel to the Neon Genesis Evangelion series

Commercial (yes, it did well enough to have one)

Title: 砂上の足跡, Footprints in the Sand
Producer: MAYA (I think...)

Kenn's Comment: It's a nice song. It's got a folk-esque kind of sound to it. xD I'm trying out a new format for the Weekly Vocaloid feature. Sorry it's late xD

Song of the Week - A Stone

Title: A Stone
Artist: Okkervil River
Genre: Indie Rock
Single: N/A
Album: Black Sheep Boy
Vintage: 05/04/05

Kenn's Comment: A saad song. It's beautiful though. Lots of emotion poured into this song, and the entire album as a matter of fact. It was number 22 of Amazon's Top 50 Albums of 2005. Sorry about the video. There isn't one that I could find, so I used that. xD

Image from Dengeki Online

Title: にゃんこい!, Nyankoi!
Genre: Shounen, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Airs: 10/01 25:59
Animation Studio: AIC

Kenn's Comment: I read a bit of the manga, and it was quite the read. Now, I'm not saying that it was spectacular; I've only read 2 chapters. But from how the plot works, it gives the production team quite a bit of leeway to work with. Currently 3 volumes of the manga out. There are some fairly big name seiyuu working on this, such as Satou Rina, Shiraishi Ryoko, Fukuyama Jun, and Kobayashi Yu, just to name a few.

Summary from MangaUpdates:
The story is about a second-year high school student named Junpei Kousaka, who not only hates cats but also is allergic to them. Unforunately, he happens to have a crush on a girl, Kaede Mizuno, who really loves cats. On the way home from school one day, Junpei kicks an empty can and happens to accidentally hit the Guardian Deity of Cats. Now he's able to understand cats but was practically given a curse. He has to grant 100 wishes from any cat or he'll turn into a cat himself.

Trailer:
Might have to crank your volume a bit to hear it. The volume is quite low on it D:

Title:  こばと。, Kobato.
Genre: Seinen, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Airs: 10/06 20:00
Animation Studio: Madhouse Studios

Kenn's Comment: I've only read a bit of the manga, but from what I've read about it, it seems like this is quite the series. Plus, it's a CLAMP series, so it'll be good. Madhouse is on it, and it's not the same genre as Tsubasa Chronicles, so hopefully, we won't end up with another one of those. A strong cast of seiyuu are on this. ;D

Summary from ANN:
Kobato is a young girl that for unknown reasons, needs to fill a mysterious bottle with the feelings of people with a heart in pain, for that she needs to "Cure" other people's hearts and make them happy, but this could become even more difficult than she thought. Her companion for this task is a grumpy plush dog she calls Ioryogi-san

Title: 겨울연가, Gyeoul Yeonga, 冬のソナタ, Fuyu no Sonata, Winter Sonata
Genre: Drama, Romance
Airs: 10/17 12:00
Animation Studio: G&G Entertainment/ JM Animation

Kenn's Comment: Yes, this is an animated version of the hit Korean Drama of the same title. It's supposedly going to be voiced by the same actors who starred in the drama, so it's obviously having a Korean airing, but what's even more surprising is that they could be doing the Japanese version too. I haven't watched it myself, but for the sake of the drama and series, let's hope that the studio stays faithful to the drama, and this becomes one hell of an adaptation.

Summary from D-addicts:
Joon-sang  moves to a new high school in search for his biological father. Yu-jin and Sang-hyuk are close childhood friends, although Sang-hyuk wants to be more than a friend, Yu-jin sees him as a brother. On a trip together with other high school mates, Oh Chelin, Jin-suk and Yong-kuk, Yu-jin is saved after an accident by Joon-sang. They become close and she opens up his cold heart. However, circumstances and fate dictate that their love will never be. He abruptly disappears from their lives.
Ten years later, the old High School buddies gather to celebrate Yu-jin and Sang-hyuk's soon-to-be wedding. Yu-jin, who was deeply in love with Joon-sang, still has a fire in her heart for him. But at the party, Oh Chelin's new boyfriend arrives, who appears the same as Joon-sang.

Title: 君に届け, Kimi ni Todoke, Reaching You
Genre: Shoujo, Comedy,  Romance, Slice of Life
Airs: 10/06 24:59
Animation Studio: Production I.G. (oh yes <3)

Kenn's Comment: Possibly one of the most anticipated series of the season, despite it's genre. With Production IG on it, and SENS Project (music), I've got extremely high hopes for this adaptation. The manga is awesome by the way. Should check it out. It'll probably be a Manga of ze Week soon. ;D

Summary from ANN:
Kimi ni Todoke is about a girl named Kuronuma Sawako. She is nicknamed Sadako (from the ring) because many people see her as strange and often mistake her for a ghost. A boy called Kazehaya kun becomes her friend and, to her, is "100% refreshness."
Kuronuma Sawako’s one wish in life is to make friends. That’s a difficult proposition when everyone who meets her cowers in terror. She admires her classmate, Kazehaya-kun, a popular, easygoing and 100% refreshing guy who is nice with everyone, even with her.

Autumn Anime Previews 5 - そらのおとしもの

Title: そらのおとしもの, Sora no Otoshimono, Lost Continent of the Sky
Genre: Seinen, Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Romance
Airs: 10/04 24:00
Animation Studio: AIC A.S.T.A

Kenn's Comment: One of the 14 episodes that are planned is apparently "too dangerous" for TV, and with "ecchi" as one of the genre tags, I'll leave what could possibly be so "dangerous" that it can't be aired to your imagination. Anywho, the manga is by the same author who did 私の救世主さま (Watashi no Messiah-sama), so I'm somewhat expecting a darker turn of events from what I read in the first few chapters.

Summary from MangaUpdates:
Sakurai Tomoki is a normal student whose motto is "normal is the best". If there is one thing abnormal, it is that he often dreams of a girl whose face he cannot even remember, and when he wakes up from that dream, he would always be crying. He tried leaving it as just a dream... but one day, from the sky, an angel descended.

 Animation Studio: DAVID Production
Kenn's Comment: Adapted from Yamagata Ishio's light novels. It doesn't look bad, and reminds me of Toshokan Sensou (Library Wars). It's animated by a new company, having only fully animated one series since it's creation, Restaurant Paradiso. Anywho, I'll check this one out when it airs.

Summary from Animevice:
Dead people turn into books held at a particular library-- Bantorra. Librarians there wield great power, and an amnesiac named Koria Tonisu wakes up one day with a bomb embedded in his chest to try to kill the most powerful of the librarians: Hamyuttsu Meseta. Instead, Koria falls in love with her, and finds himself in the middle of a war over the library.

Kenn's Comment: Looks pretty good. Probably gonna watch this. It's called an "unconventional fantasy", why I don't know, but I'm hoping to find out by watching it when it airs.

Summary from ANN:

Cecily Campbell, a former noble's daughter who joined a knighthood, encounters a man who dispatches some hoodlums with one sweep of a mysterious sword. The man possesses the power of the same "devil's contract" that has become taboo, now that peace has been restored. Cecily has been searching for a blacksmith who can repair an old sword she inherited from her father, and that mysterious young man happens to be blacksmith named Luke. Super Bored @ Vancouver 2

That's right. I got a new t shirt from Super Bored! My brother got it for me actually, but it's the same thing. I'd love to say I have two shirts from SB, but my first one went missing a few weeks ago, so this is the only one I have so far. Sad face. Anywho, my brother got a Dorabob tee. xD I notice that the Dorabob gets more attention in an hour than mine did in a day.
On another note...
Alright!! Tickets to the Distant Worlds concert! Going with a few friends for it. It shall be awesome. I'll try my best to remember my camera xD
No image, cuz nothing happened.

Slow day. Slooooow day. Sloooow day. Nothing interesting during work...other than bikini models walking around in the night market collecting donations for a charity. They weren't as good looking as I expected them to be though.

Came home to find a cat from a near by house hanging around. Followed my cousin into our backyard. Our dog would rather stay in the comfort of the house than chase the cat. IT WAS SO CUTE. I WANT A CAT. Kept rubbing against my leg, a wooden electricity pole, my cousins leg, and back to me. *u* It's fur was so nice. My dog's fur is kinda bristly, but the cat's was so nice and soft. Btw, it's a black cat. *u*

Sorry, but this was just too cute to ignore. And no, I'm not a lolicon.

Luka version posted a while back for a Weekly Vocaloid Feature.

Kenn's Comment: It's a good manga! The characters are very likeable, as Teru (female protagonist) really knuckles through hard times, and Kurosaki's treatment. Speaking of him, he's an awesome character. I really like his bad guy attitude xD Makes him seem like a high school delinquent. Anywho, I srsly recommend this manga to anyone looking for something to read. You won't regret it! Unless of course, you're going through what Teru's going through or have been through, and it brings up memories you really don't want to remember.
Summary from MangaUpdates:
“No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.”

Teru, a poor and kind girl, recently lost her older brother, her only remaining relative. Before he died he gave her a cell phone connecting her to a person he said would support her if ever he were unable to. As time passes she is cheered on by text messages sent from this enigmatic person, known only as DAISY. Then, one day, through an unexpected incident, Teru begins working for the delinquent school janitor, Kurosaki. But this sadistic scoundrel Kurosaki is really…!?
Well, I'm lacking Internet on my computer at the moment, so I'll try my best to do this on my iTouch.

I was supposed to have piano today, but music that was ordered didn't arrive, so I didn't have a lesson today. Did some restocking of everything and went to work.

Can't say today was entirely eventful. Was a good day I guess, steady stream of people. Got a crazy order or 8 sandwiches, which we cranked out at record speed.

Cousin went to meet up with some friends, and her bf showed up right after she left. People just kept popping up after that.

Intense moments in the parking lot. Lady went apeshit while co-blocking the exit, while everyone behind honked.

That's about it :/ hopefully the Internet will be back for manga of the week. If it ain't, I'm crashing at jason's xD

Weekly Vocaloid Feature - 恋スルVOC@LOID

A video celebrating Miku's second birthday (August 31). All the various things in the video are the various songs that have been popular. I'd try and list them out, but there's so many I don't recognize.

Anywho, most of the songs should be in my little producers post, so you can go there and go for some hit and miss guessing.

Song of the Week - Heartbreaker

Title: Heartbreaker
Artist: G-Dragon (from Big Bang)
Genre: electric, dance, pop
Single: N/A
Album: G-Dragon Vol.1 Heartbreaker, 지드래곤 1집 - Heartbreaker
Vintage: 31/08/09

Kenn's Comment: Addressing those claims that G-Dragon plagarized Oasis and Flo Rida, I really don't give a shit whether he did or not. There are those strong American "anti-everybody else" idiots out there who believe this and call G-Dragon a "queer Korean", which doesn't help anything, and then there are the pro-Koreans which probably don't know the American songs in question. Instead of flaming others on YouTube, why don't you idiots find something better to do with your life?

Anywho, it's a catchy song imo. I'm starting to ガラガラ GO!! (Big Bang) a bit more than Heartbreaker now though...

KIC: VOCALOID - Otaku Knowledge You Should Know

Image from Saber Portraits
Alright. Let's get this straight. This post is solely for the education of those who are not acquainted with the characters of VOCALOID, the way it works, and other what-nots you might not need to know, but will be forced to know by the end of this post. I can guarantee that it will be long. Very long. Information heavy, with pictures, videos and links. Thus, I will seperate it into various posts, each with it's own topic. Perhaps it'll be it's own blog series. Anywho, that aside, by the end of the posts, I'll educate ya li'l whelps into strong, healthy otaku-knowledge-saturated whelps, ready to take on the world and lose. I'll repost this entry once I've finished with the sections. They'll be complete with links and all, so await that with baited breath. For now, I'll be working my ass off on this, so it'll keep me busy for a while. Btw, KIC stands for Kaihaku Information Center, which is a new label I'm adding to information heavy entries. Expect more of these in the future.
